This
page provides additional info on Doug Henderson's trip for photographers to
southern Utah. This trip is planned for the last week in May, 2014. Details
are still being worked out, but it looks like the trip will cost about $1400
per person.
As presently planned, myself and about 10 photographers will load up in a
17 passenger van and leave Tulsa, headed for Utah. But this is a photography
trip and we will be taking the scenic route. Along the way we will travel
through Durango, Colorado and spend time photographing the ruins at Mesa Verde,
outside of Durango. We will spend the night at the National Park Service rooms
inside the park, shooting astral photography, the ruins at dusk and then again
at dawn.
We will then head on to the Moab area of Utah, stopping at Wilson's Arch along the way. Moab is an interesting place, situated with Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park all a stone's throw away.
We have a large house rented in Moab where we will all stay. We'll fix most of our meals there, but there are many restaurants in Moab if you prefer. Most days we will get up before dawn, shoot the early morning light, eat our biggest meal of the day at lunch, chill out (nap) during the high sun mid-day, then shoot somewhere in the late light of day, and examine and critique the photography at night.
We'll spend several days at Arches National Park, at least a full day at Canyonlands, and a day at Dead Horse Point.
We will head back a different route to Tulsa. Spending the night along the way, exact location yet to be determined. If you would like to see some of the places we will be shooting, click here for a web gallery of what I've shot at these places.
